Laney Collins
Laney is a Clinical Psychology doctoral student studying at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. She completed her Bachelor’s degree in Social Work and Psychology from the University of Wisconsin- Eau Claire, and worked for two years as a post-baccalaureate research coordinator at the University of Georgia. Laney’s current research interests include examining how environmental factors impact severe mental illness.
In the therapy space, Laney harnesses a person-centered, trauma-informed approach when working with clients. Often deriving from a psychodynamic lens, Laney enjoys helping clients identify how patterns from the past inform the present, and works with them in investigating the function and utility of such patterns.
During her time working towards her doctoral degree, Laney has found great purpose and joy in working with women across the lifespan as they navigate various changes in their lives. She also works to incorporate logotherapy, or meaning making, into her therapy with clients, as they process their life experiences. Embracing a welcoming and warm spirit, Laney strives to reaffirm her clients’ ability to enact agency and value-driven behavior within their lives.
When not working with clients, teaching, or conducting research, Laney loves to escape to the mountains for mindfulness hikes and backpacking trips. Her perfect day entails an iced latte, an adventure with her pup, and endless laughter with her people.
